LASER LIGHT UNLEASHING FULL POTENTIAL OF NOKIA’S ADVANCED SUPER-COHERENT PSE-6s OPTICAL ENGINES

  • NOKIA’S PSE-6 SUPER-COHERENT OPTICS OPEN A NEW FRONTIER IN SCALABILITY, HIGH-PERFORMANCE AND POWER-EFFICIENCY FOR OPTICAL NETWORKING

  • ACHIEVES SPEEDS UP TO 1.2 TERABITS PER SECOND PER WAVELENGTH

  • ENABLES LASER LIGHT BETA PROGRAM TO DELIVER THE HIGHEST CAPACITY AND TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE POSSIBLE IN REAL-WORLD NETWORKS

Reston, VA, USA October 15, 2023 -- Laser Light Companies will deploy Nokia’s ground-breaking sixth generation of super-coherent Photonic Service Engines (PSE-6s) for its accelerated Beta program.

Leveraging the programmability of the PSE-6s, Laser Light will be able to dynamically activate 800Gb/s, 1Tb/s and 1.2Tb/s optical channels over various distances to connect its Metro, Near and Far Edge data centres as well as its planned optical satellite landing points. Due to its proprietary network design, the PSE-6s will enable Laser Light to manage and provision unlimited applications for data center connectivity at up to 1.2Tb/s and long-haul fiber, subsea cable transmission at 800Gb/s and beyond, thereby providing a total potential network capacity of up to 76.8Tb/s per fibre pair.

Laser Light’s Beta program is currently under development across five continents. Designed in conjunction with Nokia, the Laser Light Beta is intended to serve as a basis for the development of advanced data products and services for its target customers, including hyperscalers, over-the-top media and entertainment companies, communication service providers, and data-heavy enterprises. Each Beta will support Laser Light’s global service offers and address localized use cases as defined by the need of that service market, especially beyond the Metros into underserved areas. For the Australian beta, the focus will be high speed data transmission over ultra long distances at the lowest latency with the highest throughput across the country and into the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions via subsea cable.

“Nokia’s PSE-6s enhancement to optical networking is arriving in the marketplace at just the right time for Laser Light’s program. High speed, adjustable to our service requirements, and huge bandwidth capability will further enable our intention to build a more “direct connect” data infrastructure, taking out the inefficiencies that exist in legacy networking. Also, this increase in bandwidth over long distances further adds to Laser Light’s goal of owning/operating the lowest capex/opex per gigabit per mile data infrastructure in the World,” said Bob Brumley, CEO, Laser Light Companies.

“We are proudly supporting Laser Light with their vision of building a global wholesale network with Nokia’s state-of-the-art optical chipset, PSE-6s, combined with the Nokia network automation and virtualization software platform, WaveSuite, to make the Laser Light network more consumable, for any capacity at any time,” said Antonio Ruggiero, Head of Optics for Nokia Oceania.

About Laser Light Companies

Laser Light Companies is a consortium of regional entities serving as the owner/operator of a next-generation data services platform – a network of networks – which will transform the way high volume data services is distributed, and managed – globally, regionally, and at the Edge. Using a hybrid management approach converging terrestrial, sub-sea, and space domains, an end-to-end software architecture, a commitment to a “best route, best latency” service, and a unique business model which emphasizes efficiency and operational simplicity, the Laser Light all-optical global data platform will connect companies, countries, and continents at high speed, more flexibly, securely and economically than ever before. Laser Light Companies will do for networking what Cloud did for computing. For more information, please visit www.laserlightcomms.com.
